How do I price a multi-batch cookie order?
Multiply ingredient cost and labor repeated for each batch by the number of batches. Add order-only labor, all packaging for the order, and other order costs once. Divide the total by one minus your target gross margin, then divide the unrounded order quote by the total sellable cookies for unit or dozen figures.
Put each cost in the right bucket
Mixing and decorating repeated for every batch belong in batch labor. A single pickup arrangement or invoice belongs in extra order labor. Enter the combined cost of every box used by this order in packaging; the calculator adds that field once, so a two-box order needs the price of two boxes entered.
Work a three-batch example
Suppose each batch uses $4 of ingredients and 30 minutes of labor at $20 per hour. That is $14 per batch, or $42 for three batches. Add 15 minutes of order-only work ($5) and two boxes costing $4 in total. Entered order cost is $51. At a 30% target gross margin, $51 ÷ 0.70 is about $72.8571, displayed as $72.86.
Translate the order into units
If each of the three batches yields 24 sellable cookies, the order contains 72 cookies. Divide the unrounded $72.8571 quote by 72: the displayed figures are $1.02 per cookie and $12.15 per dozen. These separately rounded figures do not have to multiply back to exactly $72.86.
Recheck the real order
If one batch produces fewer sellable cookies, update cookies per batch. If each batch needs a separate label or tray, include those costs. A rush order may require extra order time; a different design may change batch labor. Do not copy the example prices into a different order.
Confirm what the quote excludes
The calculator does not automatically include delivery, tax, card fees, unexpected waste, or a comparison with local buyers. Add applicable costs first and review any customer commitment before changing an already accepted quote.
